Unwind / 2017
Pratt Institute / Jil Berenblum
Unwind is a clock that transforms over a 24 hour period.
The most elementary form of a clock can be simplified to the hour and minute hand rotating against a background. Unwind expanded on this idea, demonstrating that even as the surface changes shape, time can still be read through the juxtaposition of high contrast colors. This was inspired by the work of Alexander Calder and Joseph Albers, which shows how partial colors can still be read as whole shapes.
